چکیده

M e t h o d s Design: Cohort study with mean 5.2-year follow-up (Framingham Offspring Study). Setting: Community-based study in the United States. Patients: 3346 participants (mean age 58 y, 53% women) of the Framingham Off-spring Study. Exclusion criteria were HF, serum creatinine > 177 μmol/L (> 2.0 mg/dL), unavailable natriuretic peptide levels, or missing covariate or follow-up data. Risk factors: B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) and N-terminal proatrial natriuretic peptide (N-ANP) measured using highsensitivity, noncompetitive immunoradiometric assays. Other risk factors were age, sex, presence or absence of hypertension and diabetes, ratio of total–to–high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, body mass index, serum creatinine level, and smoking status. Outcomes: All-cause mortality, a first major cardiovascular event (recognized myocardial infarction, coronary insufficiency, death from coronary heart disease, HF, and stroke), HF, atrial fibrillation, stroke or transient ischemic attack, and coronary heart disease events (recognized or unrecognized myocardial infarction, coronary insufficiency, and angina pectoris).

Evaluation of Brain Natriuretic Peptide, Tumor Necrosis Factor and Interleukin-6 Plasma Levels in Infants and Children with Congenital Heart Disease

Background Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most common cause of major congenital birth defect. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of CHD with serum levels of Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNFα), Interleukin 6 (IL-6), and B-type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP) in infant and children. Materials and Methods The present study was conducted in Heshmat heart hospital and 17 Shahrivar...

The Association between B-type Natriuretic Peptide Family and Successful Percutaneous Transvenous Mitral Commissurotomy: A Systematic Review

B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) level is known to increase in patients with rheumatic mitral stenosis. In this systematic review, we aimed to discuss the possible association between plasma BNP level and the success rate of percutaneous transvenous mitral commissurotomy. PubMed and Scopus databases were searched systematically, using the following key terms: “B-type natriuretic peptide” OR “BN...

Atrial and brain natriuretic peptides in cardiovascular diseases.

The human heart secretes both atrial natriuretic peptide and brain natriuretic peptide. This study attempts to clarify the pathophysiological significance of the peptides in cardiovascular diseases. Using immunoradiometric assay, plasma brain natriuretic peptide and atrial natriuretic peptide levels in essential hypertension, various secondary hypertension, chronic renal failure, chronic heart ...

Utility of B-type natriuretic peptides in preeclampsia: a systematic review.

BACKGROUND Preeclampsia and its complications may be associated with elevated B-type natriuretic peptide levels during and after pregnancy. METHODS We conducted a systematic review to determine whether preeclampsia and/or related cardiovascular complications, eclampsia and preterm delivery are associated with elevated natriuretic peptide levels. Three bibliographic databases were searched, us...

Discovering a new role for the atrial natriuretic peptide: A novel risk factor for cardiovascular diseases

Atrial natriuretic peptide, a diuretic, natriuretic and vasorelaxant hormone, is also involved in the regulation of cardiovascular remodeling and it has been recently shown to be significantly associated with higher occurrence of cardiovascular diseases. In fact, high plasma ANP levels predict higher mortality rate for cardiovascular events. Moreover, ANP gene alterations are associated with hi...
